Whispering Sweet Job Leads

I met a date at the Whisper Lounge last weekend who has created a career by melding his background in both technology and music. He told me about some openings at the digital media company he works for in Burbank. Librarian background could be a plus.

I'm a little afraid of driving to Burbank, but I passed it on the way to Santa Barbara and it didn't seem far.

P.S.

I have no idea who is reading this blog anymore, but if anyone wants to email me about what I've posted on the blog, you can do so through the comments feature. I have to approve those before they get posted. I can answer questions if you send an email address (which I won't post).

Makin' It

I received a letter today stating that I passed the library interview, scored well, and made "the list." I had just been thinking on the drive home from Laguna that I had absolutely no idea how I did on that interview and that I should have answered some of the questions differently.

I was going to ramp up the job search next week, but now I don't know, maybe I should stay in low gear, long shot territory for the time being. I recontacted a couple of entertainment places this week but had not yet gotten back in touch with the general employment agencies.

Freebird

I set out for Laguna Beach today . The architecture isn't as stunning as in Santa Barbara, but the setting is beautiful. I got in the water but couldn't actually swim because the current was too strong.

The drive took an hour and a half from Los Angeles. On the way home, as I sat in traffic on the 405, I listened to an old mix tape made in 1994 featuring the Grateful Dead and Joni Mitchell.

I go back into my former workplace early tomorrow morning to sub for a coworker.

The Golden Key

Tuesday, on my way to get my parking sticker, I attempted to stop by a personal assistant agency in Beverly Hills that hasn't responded to any of my emails. Turns out their fancy address is actually one of those mailbox stores.

Foiled again!

I feel like I'm in a fairy tale, searching for the golden key that will give me access to a personal assistant position.

Living Up to Expectations

I am becoming a jaded tourist, but Santa Barbara did not disappoint. It was absolutely gorgeous. Again, the gray skies burned off by 3 p.m., leaving a beautiful afternoon for strolling around the Spanish architecture.

It took almost 2 1/2 hours to get there, but it was worth it.

Score!

I made a second attempt at getting a parking sticker for my car yesterday and this time I had success! The clerk who helped me required different documents from the one I first encountered. Unbelievable. I have suffered for nothing for the past five months.

Off to Santa Barbara today. This is the time of year when the skies are gray during the first part of the day, but the gloom burns off by late afternoon. Hope that happens today; yesterday was lovely by 3 p.m. Although--dare I say it--eternal sunshine can become monotonous after a while.
